Bedding is casual. Casual in terms of its not the first thing that comes to mind when planning your weekly shop! However, bedding is surprisingly one of the most regularly used items within the household – Don’t forget – the average person sleeps for 8 hours – going by this, you can assume that a third of your life will be spent with your bedding, duvets, flat or fitted sheets as well as your duvet covers. Therefore, when it comes to it, we really should think about how we go about purchasing our bedding. A few factors to consider when purchasing are; cost, weight or Tog rating, washing capability, thread counts for your bedding and the linen material (you want to use for the bedding which you are in direct contact with). Thread counts tell you how many threads are in each square inch of fabric. The higher thread count contained in your bedding, the better the quality, touch and feel. Buying more expensive doesn’t necessarily mean you are getting the best. When buying sheets or bedding which are 180 TC (Thread count) or more, these are all generally regarded as good quality. Anything over 200 TC is regarded as a high-quality bedding and thread counts can go all the way up to 1000 TC.
